Thanks to help from the public
A 21-year-old Wendouree man was arrested by Portland Police on Sunday morning, thanks to help from the public following a high speed pursuit.
The man evaded police after overtaking them on Portland-Nelson Road, clocked driving at 152 kilometres per hour.
Followed to Nelson, officers were unable to locate the man, but a call was made to police at 2am regarding suspicious behaviour at the Nelson boat ramp.
Officers arrived at the scene an hour later and searched the man's vehicle where they found four deal bags of meth amphetamine, drug paraphernalia and stolen number plates.
He has been remanded in custody and will appear in court today, also wanted for theft and retention of number plates.
