Truck hits Building

Police appealing for witnesses

Hamilton Police are appealing for information from the public after extensive damage was done to the awning of a local business last night.

It is alleged a B-double truck has hit a building on the corner of Brown and French Streets, fleeing the scene straight away.

Sergeant Bronwyn Dwight said details were sketchy, but it is believed a B-double truck has entered the CBD, and then when realising they were in trouble, continued on, leaving a destructive mark on the veterinarian business.

“It seems they have come through the town, where it clearly says local traffic, and then continued on,” Sergeant Dwight said.

“We will check CCTV in the area in the hope that we can piece this together, but there must be witnesses out there.

“We are seeking any information out there, so if anyone saw this truck, we’d like to know … any information could help with the investigation.”

If a member of the public saw the collision, or the truck before or after the incident, call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
