Hamilton Sheepvention To Break Records Despite Weather

HAMILTON will come alive and the town is set to thrive over the next two days as it hosts the ever-popular Hamilton Sheepvention.

Despite a weekend of torrential rain and gale force winds, which are likely to continue today, Hamilton Sheepvention organisers are confident the event will be a huge success regardless of the weather.

More than 25,000 visitors from around Australia and overseas are expected to flood through the gates of the Hamilton Showgrounds

Sheepvention president Gordon Last said despite the weather the show will go on and he expects it to still be a great event.

“Things are looking terrific,” Last said just hours before the gates opened.

“We can’t do much about the weather, but we will proceed as per normal.

“Hopefully everyone is here to see some spectacular sites.”

And in fact, there will be a record number of sites.

The Hamilton Showgrounds will be filled to capacity with traders, the young auctioneer competition will be contested for huge prize money, and on top of that there is plenty to see and do for people of all ages.

“The trade sites are full, we have over 600 here,” The Sheepvention president confirmed.

“Normally we have the odd empty site, but not this year. We actually have a waiting list for people to get in here so it is looking fantastic.

“So there is plenty for people to see and do as far as kids, and machinery and sheep and everything is here.

"It is as good as ever.”
