Depending on upcoming weather conditions, the CFA is advising that roadside burning will likely commence in the Southern Grampians and Moyne Shires within the next week.

Either at the request or on behalf of private land owners and managers of roads, reserves and water authority land, planned burning is conducted by CFA Brigades.

Annually, CFA Brigades in our region participate in roadside burning to reduce fuel and decrease the impact of bushfire by lowering potential fire intensity.

James Haley, Manager Community Safety, said that, ‘’Reduction can slow the rate of spread and intensity of a bushfire or grassfire. It also increases the likelihood of suppression at the early stage of a bushfire and provides increased community and firefighter safety.’’
