Pleads not guilty to sex offences
A Portland man in his 40s has pleaded not guilty to sex offences, after he was charged with two counts of committing an indecent act with a child aged under 16 years.
Appearing in the Warrnambool County Court this week, it was heard that the man was in a relationship with a woman for three years, in the early 2000s.
After separating, the woman's children went for a sleep over with the accused man.
The boy, aged 8 at the time, allegedly slept in the spare room while the girl, aged 7 at the time, is proposed to have shared a bed with the man.
It was not until late 2016 that the girl told her mother she was sexually assaulted by the ex-partner.
