Water from a nearby dam was used to pump about 1000 litres a minute into the fire for up two hours.

Peat fires can smolder for days but the crew on hand was confident it was extinguished having spent a significant amount of time at the rural site.

Crews dug about 50 centrimetres into the peat to suppress the fire while also completed atmospheric monitoring.
