Operation Furlong Victoria Police's road safety campaign across the Melbourne Cup Long Weekend has netted disappointing results locally.
Hamilton Police clocked a 30-year-old Hamilton man speeding at 161 kilometres an hour in a 100km zone on Monday afternoon.
Travelling east on Chatsworth Road the driver who also had three passengers in the vehicle failed a road-side oral fluid test for drugs as well.
He will appear in court for the speeding charge, while awaiting lab results for the illicit drugs.
A Melbourne man was also caught speeding in Penshurst on the same day detected at 93 kilometres per hour in a 60 zone.
