Lake Hamilton Island
The koala translocation from the Lake Hamilton Island was completed last Friday, following ongoing concerns surrounding the available food source across the summer months.
A total of 26 adult koalas and four back young were removed and all 30 koalas are happy in their new environment.
All koalas captured underwent a health assessment with the 16 females fertility controlled to reduce breeding rates.
One male was humanely euthanised, having suffered serious injuries in the past months.
Their new home is in the centre of the Mount Napier State Park.
