Safety Checks

Expect to see low flying planes in Hamilton and Portland next week as important flight path safety checks are being carried out at both aerodromes.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority will do flight path safety checks on 16 aerodromes in total making sure instrument procedure flight paths operate safely.

The aerodromes will be checked from next Monday until Friday.

A twin-engine Cessna Conquest aircraft will be used flying within an area of 35 kilometres from the aerodromes.

Uncommon flying patterns will be witnessed making sure obstacles are marked accurately while no new obstacles exist.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority requires checks every three years.
