Going ahead today after rescheduled due to heavy rain

The Hamilton Cup will go ahead today [14.10] after heavy rain made it impossible for the Cup to go ahead last Saturday.

Club manager, Erin Penny said it was disappointing to re-schedule but with no crowds allowed the impact was minimal.

Ms Penny said, "The Hamilton Cup was scheduled for Saturday the 10th of October. But due to the heavy rainfall we had last week the Steward deemed that it was too wet to race. So unfortunately there were no other locations that were suitable. So we were able to reschedule to Wednesday."

"We're currently racing under strict protocols, due to COIVD from racing Victoria so I guess it's one positive from not having crowds here that we were able to reschedule to another date." Ms Penny said.

It doesn't mean spectators will miss out.

"It looks like there's going to be some great fields, so there's going to be some excellent racing and they can catch all the racing on , on the TV.

"We're really quite lucky that we've been able to continue racing albeit under strict protocols, so we're thankful to racing Victoria for all their hard work during these unprecedented times, but we're just continuing to be positive and I'm hoping that 2021 for the Hamilton Cup, we can make it even better and welcome everyone back to the track."
