COVID-19 in Portland

3 positives

Three people have been identified with COVID-19 in Portland.

Portland District Health (PDH) acting CEO Karena Prevett said the health service had been notified of three confirmed cases of COVID-19, all from the same household.

“At this stage we don’t know further details or exposure sites but understand the three people are isolating,” Ms Prevett said.

The Department of Health and the Barwon South West Public Health Unit will provide specific information about exposure sites, which PDH will share on its social media as soon as possible.

“In the meantime, we encourage anyone with COVID symptoms such as fever, dry cough and tiredness to isolate and get tested as soon as possible,” Ms Prevett said.

The PDH drive through testing is open daily until 4pm. People must phone 5521 0387 in advance to confirm a drive through time before arriving. People are also encouraged to register to speed up the process at Bit.ly/PDHCovidTest.

Viral fragments of COVID-19 were previously detected in Portland’s wastewater samples in Portland on October 4.

These are the first COVID cases in Portland in 2021.
