League placed under temporary governance
AFL Western District has announced that it has taken temporary governance of the South West District Football Netball League.
The action was taken following a vote from the league's board and its clubs at a recent special general meeting.
This stems from the recent resignation of long-serving executive and former president Chrissy Hawker, as well as interim president Bobby Chandler and Martin Meulendyks.
With the key figures stepping down, it is believed a majority of clubs endorsed exploring new governance structures for the league in 2018.
Until the league holds its AGM, AFL Western District has nominated the current Board members to form a League advisory committee to continue to ensure the smooth running of all League affairs.
