For Melville Oval
Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan has announced further funding of $1.2 million under the Morrison Government for the Southern Grampians Shire Council Melville Oval precinct.
The additional $1.2 million contribution will mean that the project can commence without delay and the grandstand and male change rooms will be completed without the costly need for temporary arrangements.
Mr Tehan said, “this is wonderful news for the local community who will benefit from the upgrades to the Melville Oval precinct. This investment into Hamilton’s premier facility for AFL Rules Football, Netball and Cricket, RSL Cenotaph, playground facilities, public amenities and function spaces will revitalise the space. The redevelopment will also attract more community use with the improved facilities.”
This work forms part of Stage two of the CBD Revitalisation plan, which the community contributed to through our consultation process earlier this year, and includes the upgrade of the entire Lonsdale/Gray St and Melville Oval precinct ($27 million).
“Today’s announcement is another crucial step the Morrison Government is taking in mapping out Wannon’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and builds on our investment in infrastructure that supports regional and rural Australia”, said Mr Tehan.
